Some of the older folks at the food pantry where I've been serving have been echoing the statements of needing more supervision and more regulation and it's immensely frustrating. And the notice of art going up in places marked for gentrification is so eerily accurate it's uncomfortable, I'm looking forward to reading more about this and continuing to grow as an artist who does not aim to please in any way.

Have you read The Salt Eaters by toni cade bambara? I haven’t read it yet but i’m an interview she said the premise of the book is: what will happen when the conjures/ spiritualists get up with the warriors/ advocates in our community and work together. I’ll get it and read it this fall!

We are from the USA but raising our children abroad. Telling my son about this and to him it sounds insane. Our white family in the USA would rationalize it. Why wouldn't they? Its not happening to them and stories framed like this are unquestioned.
I'm soooo far behind on the series. Premise I'm exploring is that ranking is inherent to social structures. For people, rank is attained via either dominance or prestige. Our modern age has seen the death of prestige. Necropolis is the political theory of a pure dominance system.
for me the angle that attracts me most is the death of even the myth of democracy or the idea that politics is done through communication and now we live in a politics of brutality, coercion going all the way to death making (and selling)- as you say dominance
