Most of our experiences in the USA tried to deny us these dignities but yeh it was exacerbated by grind culture which comes out of industrial/ urban culture. When we left the South things changed. We traded certain traditions for opportunities and making money.

I think grind culture denies us the dignity of aligned patterns/frequencies/pace.
